Pregnancy Discrimination

Preparing for the birth of a child should be a happy time. However, while you are preparing the nursery and attending appointments with your doctor, you may be experiencing discrimination at your place of employment.

Don't let your employer ruin what should be a joyous life change. Contact the attorneys of Lavi & Ebrahimian, LLP, in Los Angeles, if you have been discriminated against because of your pregnancy.

Legal Protections For Pregnant Women And Families

Laws like the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and the Pregnancy Disability Leave Law (PDLL) entitle employees to a certain amount of job-protected medical leave. That means that as long as you qualify, your employer is required to re-employ you in your original position or a comparable position when you return to work after maternity leave.

Under California's Paid Family Leave Act (PFL), you may also be entitled to income replacement for the time you take off work to bond with a newborn baby or care for a family member. These laws also apply to parents who take time off to bond with a newly adopted or foster child.

If you experience any medical condition or illness related to your pregnancy, you may also be entitled to disability protections. Our attorneys can help you understand your legal rights, pursue reasonable accommodations and make sure your employer treats you fairly.

Unfortunately, both mothers and fathers often face challenges in the workplace before and after the birth of a child. Our trial lawyers can help you pursue justice and financial recovery in the face of discrimination.
